Hello again
January 27th 2019 Corby Walking Football team played it's first official game, against a team from Market Harbrough.
The game was arranged and refereed by Megan Buchanan.
Harbro are an experienced team and proved a tough initiation into competitive walking football.
Despite that Corby took an early lead via a penalty and stayed in front for a long period of the game, leading 5-3 at one stage. Harbro though were not dispirated and encouraged by a superb display from their keeper, pulled it round to 6-7 with five minutes to go.
Corby managed an equaliser 7-7, only for Harbro to score the winner 7-8 in the dying seconds of the game.
The game was played in 3, 30 minute halves, just goes to show the level of fitness that can be achieved.
Thankyou to Harbro for the game.
Thankyou to Meg.
Thankyou to Corby Town Football Club for donating one of their football strips, the green & black

Hi
Here at walkingfootballnationwide I would like to share my experiance and the experiances of my fellow walking footballers.
Hopefully it will encourage you to get out there and have a go yourself.
I started at the end of last June 2018, a week after my 66th birthday, I just felt I needed to do something
My local council in Corby Northamptonshire runs a weekly session on Tuesday mornings 11:00am-12:30pm. The 1st session is free and £2.50p thereafter.
The sessions are held at the West glebe Pavilion, Cottingham Road, Corby and boasts a nearly new 4G artificial playing surface, which enables the sessions to run all year. In addition there are modern changing rooms.
Sessions are supervised by the council Sports and development team.
Megan Buchanan : Sport and Play Development Officer.
Craig Ellis :Sport and Play Apprentice.
Tom Garner : Sport and Play Assistant.
Callum Noble : Sports Coach.
Alex Pullan : Sports Coach.
Sessions have recently started on Wednesday evenings at Lodge Park Sports Centre.

At my 1st session I was signing the forms when I noticed two familiar faces out on the pitch. They were my two best mates from school, one of which was best man at my wedding.
Well straight away it was a double whammy for me, re-kindling old friendships and getting to play my favourite sport again. In addition making new friends.
I have been treated for bone pain for several years now, but I can tell you once out on the pitch with the andrenaline flowing, it all disappears.
Most of the other players had been playing for about two years, some doing two or three sessions a week. It wasn't long before Tuesday was taking too long to come around, and I upped it to two sessions myself.
Better than any prescribed medication I can tell you.
Here below are what some of the others get out of the game.
It would be great to hear from you guys out there that take part, and hear what you get out of it.
