Matchday 3 N'hants FA Walking football league

Hi
A bit late but here we go...
26/11/2023 Northants FA's Walking Football league Matchday 3, which took place at Redwell Leisure centre Wellingborough.
Corby Town (CTFC) Started the day unbeaten after 8 matches & 3 points clear at the top, of the over 65's division.
Despite CTFC dominating for much of their first game against Moulton Green's they suffered a 0-1 defeat, in their opening match.
This was followed by CTFC 1-1 Crick Athletic, Brackley town 0-0 CTFC, CTFC 0-1 Moulton Red's.
CTFC finishing the day in 3rd position.
It was a good experience for CTFC as they are relatively new squad compared to the rest of the league.
It was a day of west Northants against east where CTFC' Opponents upped their games from the previous two matchdays, with CTFC being the team to beat.
Matchday 3 as with 1 & 2 was a good day, with surprisingly plenty of skill & fitness on display, where many of the players had thought "They think it's all over", when actually it's not.
There are more videos on the you tube channel.
League is scheduled to resume at the end of Feb 2024, many thanks to Northants FA for making it happen.
All 4 now.

 Hi

Corby town fc have a team in the over 65's.

Matchday 1, saw Corby finishing top, after 3 draws & 1 win.

Matchday 2, Corby matched day 1 again with 3 draws & 1 win.

CTFC remain top of their league by 3 points.

Matchday 3 will be in November, then there will be a break, with Matchday's 4,5,& 6 resuming in Feb, March & April.

The venue is Redwell Leisure Centre in Wellingboro.

So far the league has been well run, so congrats to all organisers. The venue is excellant with a good astro turf surface.

The games have been played & ref'd in a good spirit.

The synics would (rightly) say, there could be less running.

Video's of Matchday's 1 & 2

can be found on youtube just search Northants fa walking football.

League details, fixtures, scores etc. can be found online at the Northants fa website.

Well done all, it is great to see so many older guy's strutting their stuff.

Bye 4 now

Desborough v Corby Town fc

 Hi.

CTFC's walking football squads new year, kicked off, with a 3 - 4 away victory over local rivals Desborough. As a friendly it was of mixed age groups of 50+, oldest was 77 brilliant!

Corby got off to a good start with new boy Harry Buchanan scoring.

Dessy soon equalised with quick feet from Mick Veal.

A second from Desborough put them in the lead.

2 goals for Corby followed

Alan Revie with one.

Desborough then equalised, making it 3-3.

With about 5 mins left

Corby's right back sent a thunderous shot goalwards

Which dessy's keeper  Pete Williams kept out well, only for Corby's John Cowie

(yes me) to rifle it home on the spin, between Williams and the upright.

As the order of the goals suggests, it was a finely balanced game, by and large played in the spirit of the game.

There is some footage on my youtube channel for viewing.

Well done all, thanks to Desborough, for their hospitality, & Ray Shillito for doing the hardest job of the day , being the ref.

Stay safe.

 Hi all.

                                                       HAPPY NEW YEAR

News has slowed down since the Northants FA tourno' , also something called Christmas got in the way of weekly sessions.

I addition I have been laid up for 4 weeks now with a virus flue, cold covid, who knows what, when they have all got the same symptoms?

During the 4 weeks I did 2 Covid tests which came back negative, on one hand "good", on the other, again who knows as they are not allegedly accurate?

I do not trust them myself, the world was hit with a "virus" no one allegedly knew nothing about, yet within a short period these testing kits were available in their millions, coming funnily enough from the same country as the virus, Covid.

someone knew something, knew what was coming and it is not over yet!

Well that's my opinion.

So back to the WF, hoping to get back this week.

Since the NFA tourno, a meeting was held to discuss the possibility of starting a county league.

Formats, locations & timings & interest were on the agenda, with further meetings to be held.

Updates to follow.

Finally, for anyone else suffering, chin up, be positive & keep taking the tablets.

All 4 now, take care.

Regards John
