CTFC 2024

Hi all
Happy New Year.
I've been a bit lazy with the blog this year, my media work for the NWFL has taken over my spare time.
How ever today's offering, is a hastily put together montage of Corby Town's Walking Football 2024 year.
Hope you enjoy.
Not much happening till the 2025 Spring season kicks off, where Corby due to increased numbers are entering 2 over 65's teams.

CTFC v Forest Vets

Hi
Sunday 4th August saw the 4th annual Walking Football tournament at Corby Town's ground Steel Park
The ladies team, in their first tournament went all the way to the final, where they came against the fastley experienced Forest Vet's. Who arrived of the back of their triumph at the 2024 Eurocop tournament in Portugal, on 05/06/2024.
CTFC enjoyed a lot of early pressure, resulting in Lisa smashing home the first goal. Vet's started to find some form, but met CTFC's keeper in good form, eventually tho', they equalised.
Neither team could find a winner, with the game going to penalties
Vet's came out winners 2-3
All for now, until the end of September when the Northants Walking Football Leagues autumn laeague starts.
Footnote:
CTFC mens teams were unable to match their earlier trophy wins

 Hi

Last Saturday I had the privalage once again, to represent Corby Town FC 's Walking football squad.

At the 2024 Brackley over 60's tournament.

We were unable to match our success at Market Harbro' back in May where we won the Over 65's Trophy.

However we did make the final, after a fantastic penalty shootout, against host Brackley. Winning 7-8.

Every one was a cracker. With Corby keeper Mick Parkes, making the vital save.

All can be seen youtube.

Next up is Corby's own annual tournament at their home ground Steel Park,

Sunday August 4th, which consists of two mens group 50's+, 65's+ & ladies.

If the last 3 torno's is anything to go by, a good day of geriatric football is ensured.

Admission is free, come along& see for yourself, that age has no limits.

CTFC road to league & Cup Double

Last Saturday I had the privilege of playing for Corby Town Fc's Over 65's Walking Football team, at Market Harborough's annual WF tournament.
In our section of group stage games, we played a total of six 15 minute games, we,
 Won 5
 Drew 1
We finished top of our group, which put us in the final with 2nd placed Loughborough.
It was a very hot morning & neither team was able to get their tired legs to score, so it was down to the "penalty" shoot out, best of three.
Corby scored their 1st two
L'boro' scored one missed one
Corby scored their third & won the Over 65's Trophy 2024
This gave the Corby squad a league & Cup double for 2024. Having already won the Spring Season Northamptonshire Walking Football League 2024 back in April.
How they achieved the double can be seen in the video above.
Corby's Over 50's got  runners up medals in their group.
It was a great day, well organised.
Thanks to all at Harborough Hornets. all 4 now

Corby Town, CTFC, had an over 60's squad play at this years N'pton Town Walking Football tournament.
They finished 2nd in the group stages, winning 2, drawing 1, losing 1.
Going through to the quarter finals, they met Nott's Forest, where they took an early lead, but on the day Forest were too strong & came back 1-2 winners.
As usual, more videos can be seen on you tube.
as with the NWFL, RUNNING IS A BIG ISSUE.
Despite that a good amount of skill & fitness can be seen by these oldies.
Next up Market Harbro' 25/05/2024

Corby Whites 65's Road to Victory

Hi
28/04/2024 saw Matchday 3 of the Northants Walking Football League, for the Over 50' & 65's.
It was also the final day of the spring season, witch consisted of games being played  on one Sunday in Feb., March & April. Reports on Feb & March appear in earlier post.
As you will see from the video Corby Tow FC's Over 65's White  team won the Trophy for their division, at only the second attempt
CTFC also had a second Over 65's team, the Blue team, who appeared for their first season, they finished 4th, having won 2, drawn 6, lost 2.
CTFC also had an Over 50's side appearing for the first time they finished 6th, having won 1, drew 7, lost 6. A good effort over all for the Club.
I apologise for the attention given to Corby, well as part of the squad their results are closer to me.
As usual there are more videos to see on the tube.
As usual you will see an amount of running, jogging and of course walking. Is early days yet for the league, who will be working between seasons to make the league closer to Walking Football as possible.
On the upside the League is very well run, admin etc. spot on as you will see if you visit www.NorthamptonshireWalkingFootballLeague. You will also notice it is backed by the FA.
A few tournament's coming up through the summer, will keep you posted
All 4 now.
Regards John
